6.01
- The following shall be considered as Statutory Holidays on which employees shall not be required to work.
New Years Day Labour Day Good Friday Thanksgiving Day Easter Monday Remembrance Day Victoria Day Christmas Day Dominion Day Boxing Day B.C. Dayand an additional holiday to be observed on the second Friday in February (in the event the government declares Heritage Day a Statutory Holiday, then this day shall be replaced by Heritage Day), plus all other Statutory Holidays as may be declared by the B.C. Provincial and Federal Governments.
- Employees who have worked fifteen hundred (1,500) hours in a calendar year shall earn a floating holiday; such holiday shall be taken within the following twelve (12) month period.
6.02 Qualification for Statutory Holiday pay
An employee shall be paid for the above mentioned Statutory Holidays at his current pay rate provided he has:
- worked fifteen hundred (1,500) hours or more in the previous twelve (12) months and worked at least one (1) day within the last thirty (30) calendar days.
- worked more than seven hundred and twenty (720) hours but less than fifteen hundred (1,500) hours in the previous twelve (12) months, and at least one (1) day in the last 20 calendar days.
- worked less than seven hundred and twenty (720) hours in the previous twelve (12) months and at least five (5) days in the last fourteen (14) calendar days.
- been available for work on the last day scheduled for him immediately prior to the day on which the said holiday is observed and also was available for work on the first day scheduled for him immediately following the day on which the holiday is observed.
6.03 Qualification for Stat Hol pay during sickness, vacation etc.
- Employees on approved sick leave, Weekly Indemnity, Workers' Compensation and paid vacation shall be considered as days worked for the purpose of qualifying for Statutory Holiday pay but, with the exception of paid vacation leave, do not qualify in determining the number of hours worked for Article 6.01(b).
- Employees who are on Long Term Disability, unpaid sick leave or leave of absence shall not be paid by the Company for Statutory Holidays occurring during the absence.
6.04 Statutory Wage Rate
For all work performed on the aforementioned Statutory Holidays, double time shall be paid to all employees in addition to the straight time Statutory Holiday pay.
6.05 Qualifications/Union Leave
It is understood and agreed that the Union Negotiation Committee shall not qualify for Statutory Holiday pay entitlement solely on the basis that they were working on Union business.
