ARTICLE 18 - DISAFFILIATIONS

Section 1 - Authority

This Union may disaffiliate from any other union or organization.

Section 2 - Notice

The General Executive Board shall serve thirty (30) days notice of its intention to disaffiliate and shall state in writing its reasons for taking such action.

Section 3 - Meetings

The reasons for disaffiliation shall be explained to the membership at a Membership Meeting or meetings called for that purpose.

Section 4 - Debate

Each member shall have full opportunity to ask questions, make comments, and debate the issue.

Section 5 - Voting

After the meeting or meetings called for this purpose, the General Executive Board shall conduct a secret ballot vote.

Section 6 - Ballot

The question on the ballot shall be:

Are you in favour of the Brewery, Winery and Distillery Workers Union Local 300 disaffiliating from _____________________.

Yes

No

Section 7 - Majority

If a majority of the membership are in favour of disaffiliation, disaffiliation shall take effect the first day of the month following the date on which the vote was counted.
