ARTICLE 17 - AFFILIATIONS

Section 1 - Authority

The Union may affiliate with any other Union or Organization.

Section 2 - Negotiations

The General Executive Board may enter into discussions or negotiations with any other Union concerning affiliation.

Section 3 - Meetings

The terms and conditions of the proposed affiliation shall be explained to the membership at a Special Membership Meeting or meetings called for that purpose.

Section 4 - Debate

Each member shall have full opportunity to ask questions, make comments, and debate the issue.

Section 5 - Voting

After the meeting or meetings called for this purpose, the General Executive Board shall conduct a secret ballot.

Section 6 - Ballot

The question on the ballot shall be:

Are you in favour of the Brewery, Winery and Distillery Workers Union Local 300 affiliating with _____________________.

Yes

No

Section 7 - Majority

The Union shall not affiliate unless:

1. Not less than eighty percent (80%) of the active members vote; and
   
   
2. Not less than sixty percent (60%) of the active members who vote, vote in favour of affiliation.
   
   
3. If less than eighty percent (80%) of the active members vote, then the General Executive Board may direct that a second vote be held.
